2024 Week 9 fantasy hockey is about to kick off, and there are two teams with great schedules that you should target for your streamers. Although multiple teams are playing four games this week and have games on off nights, the Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs have the best schedule for streamers. Streaming from these teams ensures that you will be able to have these players active on their game days and not sitting on your bench. In leagues with limited pick-ups, finding players who play often and on light days is key to a team’s success. With that being said, let’s take a look at some of the best streaming options for 2024 Week 9 fantasy hockey.
Two Long-Time Stars to Pick Up This Week
Dallas has a great streaming schedule this week. They play four games, all on light days. You are almost guaranteed to have room for Stars in your lineup this week. Two Stars in particular you should use your adds on for 2024 Week 9 fantasy hockey are Jamie Benn and Tyler Seguin.
Stars captain Jamie Benn has had a slower start than his last two seasons. That doesn’t mean he can’t be an asset in fantasy hockey. The 35-year-old provides over a hit and shot per game and has put up a point in more than half of Dallas’ games this season.
Offence in general has been harder to come by in Dallas this season. After finishing second in goals for last season, the Stars currently sit in tenth. A four-game week could get the offence firing again, and with his top powerplay deployment, make Benn a solid stream for Week 9.
Tyler Seguin on the other hand has been one of Dallas’ best point producers this season. In 17 games, Seguin has eight goals and 18 points. At 66% rostered on Fantrax, Seguin has had a sneaky good start to what he hopes will be a bounce-back season. A big indication of Seguin continuing his productivity is his secondary assist rate. At only 20%, this points to Seguin driving more offence and creating more chances for his teammates. Seguin’s line with Mason Marchment and Matt Duchene currently has 64 points combined and has been Dallas’ most productive line. If Seguin is available in your league, take advantage of his line’s offence and pick him up for Week 9.
Toronto Maple Leafs Depth Players to Add
The Leafs are a top-heavy team with their big guns likely all rostered in fantasy hockey. With a schedule that includes four games with three off-night games, it would be valuable to add some of the Leafs’ depth players to pick up some extra games in deep leagues.
A smart add for bangers and category league managers this week would be defenceman Jake McCabe. McCabe and defence partner Chris Tanev have quickly become one of the strongest shut-down pairings in the league. Playing over 20 minutes per game, McCabe’s value is in his peripheral coverage. McCabe can jump up in the rush but is unlikely to be a point producer, with just five assists on the season so far. With 50 hits and 46 blocks in 22 games, McCabe gives fantasy managers a safe floor from the back end if that is what they need in Week 9.
Fraser Minten has made the most of his NHL call-up so far, pointing in two of his three games played. The young forward has also been producing over a hit and shot in each game. With deployment that mirrors second-line players around the league with over two minutes per game on the powerplay, Minten may be a valuable add in leagues this week. Keep in mind though, if and when Maple Leaf main stays come back from injuries, Minten may be the odd man out as he is waivers exempt. Until that happens, take a shot on the 20-year-old if you need some depth in your lineup.
