The Minnesota Vikings traded for another first-round pick on Friday as they might be prepping to move into the top five for a quarterback.
They acquired the No. 23 and the No. 232 pick from the Houston Texans in exchange for the No. 42 and No. 188 picks, along with a 2025 second-rounder.
Dane Brugler of The Athletic has already proposed a mock trade for the Vikings to move up and it involves the New England Patriots.
“Safe guess: The first call for the Vikings is to the Patriots to offer picks No. 11, No. 23, and another sweetener for the No. 3 overall pick Then it becomes a Robert Kraft decision,” Brugler tweeted.
This would make sense for the Vikings but the Patriots may not want to do it because they’re guaranteed to get at least one of Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, or Jayden Daniels if they stay at No. 3.
If they drop down, they won’t be able to get any of those quarterbacks and may have to settle for JJ McCarthy.
We’ll see if the Vikings give the Patriots a call over the next several weeks. The 2024 NFL Draft will take place from Apr. 25-27.
