Making sure you can keep up with all the action
Merry Christmas Eve, everybody, and welcome to another Minnesota Vikings game day! We want to make sure that everyone is able to see this year’s “Winter Whiteout” game or follow it in some way wherever they are. Here are all the things you need to know heading into this one.
Television Info
We are back to the single-best time for NFL action to get underway, that being noon Central time on Sunday afternoon. This game is going to be carried by the FOX family of networks, including KMSP-9 in the Twin Cities, with the play-by-play call being handled by. . .sigh. . .Kenny Albert and cheatin’ Jonathan Vilma. Man, we deserve better.
If you’re unsure of whether or not you’ll be in the local broadcast area for this one, here is this week’s map from the good folks at 506 Sports. The Lions/Vikings game is being shown in the red area.
If you’re outside of the local viewing area, you’ll be able to find the game on YouTube TV Sunday Ticket.
For our men and women serving in uniform overseas, the American Forces Network will be showing this one LIVE on AFN Sports. Kickoff is slated for 1800Z, which translates to 1900L for everyone in Central Europe, 2100L for those on Arabian Time, and 0300L on Sunday morning for fans in Japan and Korea.
Radio Info
If you have a Vikings Radio Network affiliate in your area, most of them will probably be carrying the game. We’ve provided you with the full list of affiliates for this season, so use our page to find the affiliate nearest to you.
For those of you who are going to use satellite radio to listen to this one, you can find the feed from the Vikings Radio Network on SiriusXM Channel 227. You can listen to the Lions’ feed on Channel 383 if you feel compelled to do so for whatever reason. If you’re using the SiriusXM app, the Vikings’ permanent home there is on Channel 820.
Referee Info
The officiating crew for this one, per the folks at Football Zebras, will be led by Land Clark. (Candygram?) This will be the second Vikings’ game this season for Clark’s group, as they handled the Vikings’ 27-20 loss to Kansas City at U.S. Bank Stadium in Week 5.
Weather Info
None of the Vikings’ games going forward will be affected by the elements (until the playoffs, I mean). And according to our friends from WeatherNation, tomorrow represents a pretty good opportunity to stay inside anyway. Temperatures at kickoff will be in the 50s under gray skies and rain showers with winds out of the southeast at around 15 miles/hour.
Betting Info
According to the DraftKings Sportsbook, the Vikings remain a 3-point underdog in this one. The over/under for the game is currently sitting at 47.5 points.
Streaming Info
If your local affiliate is not carrying the game, remember that the Sunday Ticket package now rests with YouTube TV. If you’re in the local area and have cut the cord, you should be able to find it on a service such as Fubo TV or Sling TV.
I’ll say the same thing about illegal streams that I always say: don’t. Or damn sure don’t go advertising them here. You’ll be banned and that will be the end of it.
Post-Game Info
Due to holiday commitments, there will not be a live postgame show from Vikings Report with Drew and Ted this week. There might not be one next Sunday, either. We’ll keep you posted.
That should be all of the information you need to keep up with the action from U.S. Bank Stadium between the Vikings and the Lions. As always, our discussion threads for the game will start approximately an hour before kickoff at 11:00 AM Central, and we hope to see a lot of folks there.
