The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly retaining a key cog to their offensive line unit.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN: “Veteran guard Dalton Risner is re-signing with the Vikings on a one-year deal, per source.”
Risner played in 15 games for the Vikes last season, starting 11. The 28-year-old offensive lineman was originally signed by Minnesota last September after a four-year stint with the Denver Broncos.
Risner was a second-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft coming out of Kansas State and quickly turned himself into a reliable starter in the trenches for Mile High.
In 77 career games, Risner has cracked the starting lineup 73 times. However, this is twice now that the Brandon, Missouri native has had to wait a bit to receive a phone call in free agency.
Risner had partially torn his UCL late in the 2022 season which made teams hesitant to sign him. But the Vikings swooped in and were able to get some solid production out of the ex-Bronco.
Now Minnesota is putting an end to Risner’s unemployment once again by extending the proven vet a one-year contract — which if its anything like his last one — is likely in the $4 million range.
