First look into the health of both teams ahead of Sunday night’s showdown in Motown
The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions have issued their first injury reports ahead of their Showdown in Motown to end the NFL regular season on Sunday night. Here they are:
Detroit Lions
This was an estimated injury report for the Lions as they just did a walkthrough practice today as they have a short week after playing at San Francisco on Monday night and not getting back to Detroit until the small hours of Tuesday morning.
Both Alex Anzalone and Kalif Raymond are currently on injured reserve, but given Raymond was listed as a full participant, he could be activated for Sunday’s game. The Lions have opened Anzalone’s window to return, and Adam Schefter reports that he has, “a realistic chance” to play on Sunday.
David Montgomery suffered a knee injury in the Bills game and was initially looking to go on IR and miss the rest of the season. But he sought a couple other opinions and is now thought to possibly return in the postseason for the Lions. He is not on IR. But his likelihood to play on Sunday is doubtful.
Emmanuel Moseley has been available for the Lions most of this season, but hasn’t played any snaps yet for them, so his status would seem more of a depth issue.
Jack Campbell and Amik Robertson look to have minor injuries they will play through on Sunday, but given how thin the Lions are on defense already, something to keep an eye on the rest of the week.
Minnesota Vikings
Patrick Jones II suffered that knee injury on a low, but legal block in the Packers game and is unlikely to play on Sunday.
Other than that, the rest are minor injuries (or illness) that guys are likely to play through. Fabian Moreau being upgraded to limited after not practicing last week is a good sign for his availability on Sunday.
We’ll see how things progress over the next couple days, but the Vikings should be as near to 100% not counting IR players as can be expected week 18.
