Vikes Views: Nincompoop of the Week Vikings at Rams TNF

That game was a disaster. It always sucks to lose a game. The Minnesota Vikings didn’t play well enough to win. They still had a chance at the end and it was taken away from them. Let’s us know who you blame more.

Tra Blake – Why is Blake a Nincompoop? Usually I just say NFL Refs or something easy. This time it’s too much. Blake was the referee during the big comeback against the Indianapolis Colts that called back two TDs for the Vikings and they were still able to win. This time he didn’t leave anything to chance. Darnold was taken down with the most obvious facemask you will ever see. It’s a key spot and Tra was 5 feet away. After the game he doubled down on his bad call and said he didn’t have a good look. This level of incompetence or corruption cannot stand. I don’t take that lightly, but when 90% of the public money is on one side and there is a call like that, you have to question it. I want to make this clear, this is not the only reason they lost the game. It is, however, what ended any chance they did. The chances were slim, but we were robbed of seeing that play out. Should we have given up prior to the Minneapolis Miracle? Anyone who says don’t worry about it doesn’t love sports. I don’t want my favorite team to win or lose that way. They were bad all night, but the final non-call is unacceptable.

Kevin O’Connell – Why is KOC a Nincompoop? The team was down late and there is a lot of other blame to go around. Darrisaw went down at half on a play where KOC could’ve called a kneel down. It was close to the end-zone and whatever, not the dumbest call ever, but not good when your LT goes down. Overall the team comes out strong every week. They are +62 in the 1st quarter of games this year. They are now -11 in the remaining 3 quarters. He’s great at designing the beginning but isn’t reacting well enough. He’s getting outcoached and did last night by his former boss. I did love his comments after the game. He’s not going to let the players blame everything on the refs. He handled it with class. However, class doesn’t get you wins in the NFL. Doesn’t mean you have to be classless and I appreciate KOC’s maturity.

Brian Flores – Why is Flores a Nincompoop? He’s the leader of the defense that gave up 4 straight TD drives to the Lions and 3TDs + a 2 pt conversion to the Packers in the 4th quarter. I’ve been giving Flores a pass because of his great work to start the year. However, I can no longer ignore the glaring issues. If Greenard isn’t getting home on the rush, this team is toast. Greenard was in and out last night with some injuries and it showed. The gimmicks are done and it’s time to really coach. Need better from Flores is a long week to prepare for the Indianapolis Colts. He’s hand picking a lot of these players.

To be honest, the list of players is long. The entire defense outside of 3 or 4 players. The entire OL outside of O’Neil. Nailor and Addison not doing anything. The incompetent blocking from the TEs. We know KOC, Flores and the Refs will get most of the votes, but the players collectively were bad. Jefferson, Brian O’Neil, Aaron Jones, Darnold, Greenard, Van Ginkel, Murhpy Jr and Gilmore are excused from this list for this week.
