Vikes Views: Nincompoop of the Week Colts at Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings won, but there is always some Nincompoopery going around. I struggled to find a list this week. One of my nominees was mentioned for the Player of the Game by a few commentors. Also, I don’t want this to turn into a weekly bitch session about the refs. With all that said, let’s take a look at this week’s nominees.

Sam Darnold – Why is Darnold a Nincompoop? If they were playing a better team, that game would’ve been over at halftime. He started the game with a mindboggling interception with Addison wide open. Also, Addison is open A LOT and Darnold never looks his way. He only caught all 5 targets including a diving TD reception. Give Addison the damn ball.

Joe Flacco – Why is Flacco a Nincompoop? That game was a terribly QB’d game. The first half was unwatchable. The only points were a BS return. The Colts have Jonathan Taylor and a slew of receivers that can make plays. Flacco didn’t give them a chance on Sunday. He threw towards Murphy Jr twice, one of them was the easier INT of his career. Flacco had chances and looked like a Nincompoop trying to play QB.

Will Reichard – Why is Reichard a Nincompoop? He let the first miss continue to the 2nd kick. He missed an easy one because he didn’t correct the basic mistake he made on the first one. Just need better in a close game. It ended up being an easy win, but the missed FG could’ve come back to haunt the team. Missed 53-yard FGs happen, missed 31-yarders to follow up that miss, can’t happen.

Johnny Mundt – Why is Mundt a Nincompoop? He stinks. No one does less with 19 snaps than Mundt. He can’t block or catch. Not sure why he’s on the field…ever.

Andrew Van Ginkel – Why is Van Ginkel a Nincompoop? He’s been the player of the week several times. He’s been great this year. However, he wasn’t good on Sunday. The defensive difference the last few weeks has largely been the LBs not getting home like they were. Van Ginkel was ineffective as a pass rusher and in coverage.

Anthony Richardson – Why is Richardson a Nincompoop? The Vikings should’ve never seen Flacco on the field. Richardson tapped out last week in the middle of an offensive drive because he needed to breathe. In reality, he was just giving up. This man is in incredible shape and is incredibly athletic. The look on his face wasn’t exhaustion, it was defeat. The team saw it and had to bench him. NFL jobs are hard to come by. If things don’t change, Richardson will be another that has come and gone without realizing his potential.
