Minnesota Vikings fans are down after the loss to the Lions, but are they excited about the playoffs?
After the embarrassing loss in Detroit for the Minnesota Vikings, a lot of fans seem to be almost giving up on this team. The sentiment online seems to be this team isn’t good enough to make a serious run. Some fans almost seem to be expecting a loss on Monday night against the Rams. It’s making me a little sad.
I am almost encouraged by the game the other night. The Vikings are capable of going toe to toe with anyone. Sam just played his worst game in 4 years and Andrew Van Ginkel almost tied the game in the 3rd quarter with a pick six, but he dropped it. Justin Jefferson was wide open in the end zone several times and the throw was inches off. Jordan Addison popped open a few times and Darnold had already moved on to the next read or didn’t see it coming open. It wasn’t like they had 100 yards of offense and got gobsmacked.
The fix to most of the issues is a little nerves. We’ve seen Van Ginkel make that play. We’ve seen Darnold make those throws all year. Am I nervous that this means it’s Kirk Cousins all over again? Of course, I am. However, it also might mean they woke up a little. It might mean they focus a little more this week. They don’t get the bye, but the team is reasonably healthy. We’ll see on Monday how it shakes out. I, for one, am excited about watching the most important game of the season and hoping there is one more the week after.
