NFL OTAs for teams are this week, so media members are watching some players for the first time.
In Alec Lewis’s case, the Minnesota Vikings insider has been watching rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy and thinks he has “MAJOR” juice when he throws the ball.
“One thing is very, very obvious after watching J.J. McCarthy for two practices: The velocity cliche of ‘the ball jumps out of his hand?’ I’m not sure it’s ever been more apt for a dude. He has MAJOR juice,” Lewis tweeted.
McCarthy was selected 10th overall by the Vikings in the 2024 NFL Draft and is expected to be their starting quarterback for this season and beyond. He’s replacing Kirk Cousins after he signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
McCarthy developed into a great quarterback during his time at Michigan and helped the program win a national title this past season. He compiled 2,991 yards through the air, 22 touchdowns, and only four interceptions.
He’ll now get to throw passes to Justin Jefferson every week during the fall and help the Vikings get back to the playoffs after they missed this past season.
