The Minnesota Vikings addressed Jordan Addison’s recent arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence.
“We’re disappointed in Jordan,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell told reporters Monday, via Pro Football Talk. “We care about these players, we really do. We want to make sure we’re doing our part for the development on the field. The other aspect of that is the off the field, the life skills, and the development of decision-making and learning how important it is within our culture — that we’re very proud of — that our players understand personal responsibility and accountability.”
O’Connell added that the organization will wait for the legal process to play out before taking any action.
Vikings general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah said the Vikings are more focused on providing Addison with an optimal support system than any potential disciplinary measures.
“Any disappointment that we might have in Jordan, Jordan has more in himself,” Adofo-Mensah said. “He holds himself to a high standard, was raided by a great family. He knows the types of behavior he needs to be the best version of himself, and he’s kind of let himself down in that regard.”
Earlier this month, police arrested Addison near the Los Angeles International Airport after allegedly finding him asleep behind the wheel of a Rolls Royce blocking traffic.
It’s the wide receiver’s second arrest in as many offseasons, as he was charged with speeding and reckless driving after driving 140 mph on a Minnesota freeway last summer. Addison paid fines after pleading guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge.
