The good guys are down by a point
Get those fours up, ladies and gentlemen, because we’re heading to the final quarter of play in Duval County with your Minnesota Vikings still trailing the Jacksonville Jaguars by a score of 7-6.
Minnesota got the ball to start the second half and quickly pushed into Jacksonville territory on two touches for Jordan Addison (a 5-yard run and a 21-yard catch). The Vikings once again got themselves into the red zone and. . .once again. . .Sam Darnold threw a pass to a member of the Jaguars, this time getting picked by Darnell Savage on an attempt for Justin Jefferson.
The Vikings’ defense then forced another Jacksonville punt, got the ball back, and once again, pushed into Jacksonville territory (after a penalty on the Jaguars negated what would have been a fourth interception for Sam Darnold). The Vikings looked to have a goal-to-go situation set up but it was negated by an illegal formation penalty, so the Vikings had to settle for another Parker Romo field goal attempt, this one a 33-yarder to cut it to 7-6 with about two minutes left in the quarter.
The Vikings forced another three-and-out from the Jaguars’ offense on the ensuing drive, thanks in large part to a sack from Andrew Van Ginkel, and the Vikings will have a first-and-ten from their own 16-yard line when play resumes.
The Vikings are within a point of the Jaguars at 7-6 as we head to the fourth quarter of play. Can they pull this one out? Come join us and find out!
