Let’s get this thing started!
We are now half an hour away from kicking off the final game of the 2024 NFL regular season, as the Detroit Lions host our Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night Football. Here’s everything you need to get ready for tonight’s game.
Date and Time: Sunday, 5 January 2025, 7:15 PM Central time
Location: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
Television Coverage: KARE-11 in the Twin Cities, NBC, streaming on Peacock
Radio Coverage: Vikings Radio Network, SiriusXM Channel 226 (Vikings feed), SiriusXM App Channel 820
Line: Vikings +1.5, Over/Under 56.5
Chris’ Prediction: Vikings 34, Lions 31
Three Keys
1) Weather the storm early – The atmosphere in Detroit is going to be pretty rowdy, I’d assume. The Vikings will need to do what they can to avoid an early letdown and get off to a fast start against this Detroit team. They can’t afford to fall behind and play catch-up, so hopefully they can get off on the right foot.
2) Take what the defense gives you – Over the past four or five weeks, the Detroit defense has been pretty bad. Minnesota has been on fire offensively as of late, with Sam Darnold seemingly getting better and better each week. The Minnesota offense should be able to move the ball tonight, and they’ll have to make sure they get into the end zone and not settle for field goals. Threes won’t win a game against this Detroit team.
3) Get to Jared Goff – The last time these two teams played, Goff threw just three incompletions in four quarters. The Vikings can’t afford to let him get into a rhythm and scan the field for open targets all night. They need to attempt to get some pressure on him and possibly force some bad throws for the secondary to get their hands on. If they can get a stop or two, that might just be enough.

That should be everything you need to be up to speed on this one, folks. Remember that a new Open Thread starts at the beginning of each quarter, so keep your eyes open for those and move the discussion along accordingly.
Here’s hoping that in about three hours we can all get together and talk about how great it is that the Vikings collected their 15th win and secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the NFC.
SKOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL VIKINGS!!!!
