The Minnesota Vikings lost Danielle Hunter in free agency and replaced him with Jonathan Greenard. It would be a fun free agency trade as they swapped places, but for Greenard, he may have gotten the better end of the deal.
Greenard was a seamless fit in Brian Flores’ defense and he showed that his 2023 season with the Texans was no fluke. In fact, he is more productive in Minnesota than he was in Houston with the way Flores utilizes the pressures and blitzes for his group of edge rushers. The schemes and depth of the edge group allow Greenard to thrive, and he now has one of the best defensive efforts in the NFL in 2024.
So why isn’t he in discussion for the Defensive Player of the Year award? We wanted to look at that and compare his efforts to last year’s winner, Myles Garrett.
