Former NFL running back LeSean McCoy is not a fan of the Minnesota Vikings drafting J.J. McCarthy.
McCoy thinks the Vikings are one of the “losers” of the draft because of the pick.
“What shows you that J.J. McCarthy can win games for you with his arm? Watching his tape, nothing jumps off saying we have to add this dude,” McCoy said.
While he may feel that way, the Vikings clearly don’t. They liked what they saw from him during his few seasons in Ann Arbor.
It culminated with him helping Michigan to a national title this past college football season. Michigan finished with a perfect 15-0 record while McCarthy compiled 2,991 yards through the air, 22 touchdowns, and four interceptions.
McCarthy also completed 72.3% of his passes during the season.
The Vikings feel like he’s their next franchise quarterback and even traded up one spot (to No. 10) to select him. He’s set to replace Kirk Cousins, who signed a four-year $180 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons during free agency.
McCoy could look foolish if McCarthy pans out the way the Vikings think he will.
