The offseason is the biggest part of any NFL team. Whether they are coming off a Super Bowl win like the Eagles or getting ready for the first pick like the Titans. They and everyone in between have tough decisions ahead of them to be in the best position possible for 2025.
For the Vikings, PFF has an idea of what the next season may come down to if one position mattered the most.
Pro Football Focus discussed which position every NFL team will have to make the biggest decisions with. It comes as no surprise their choice for the Vikings is quarterback.
“. . .Will general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah franchise-tag or extend Darnold, putting McCarthy’s future with the team in jeopardy, or will he eschew Darnold’s one-year contributions for the touted prospect? Given Adofo-Mensah’s history of shedding once-beloved players like Dalvin Cook and Za’Darius Smith on more expensive deals, handing the reins to McCarthy feels more probable, but it’s far from a straightforward choice.”
The hindsight approach of looking at what Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has done should make you lean toward J.J. McCarthy as it did for PFF. What is equally important now as it was then for Cook and Smith is that money will be key in all of it.
Adofo-Mensah is primed for more spending this offseason, it just may not be at quarterback.
