Cowboys vs. Chargers Monday Night Football Props
George Kittle Anytime Touchdown (+135)
#49ers WR Deebo Samuel was declared out for MNF vs. the #Vikings with a hairline fracture of his shoulder, according to coach Kyle Shanahan. He’ll miss two games, then the bye. LT Trent Williams is doubtful for the game, while RB Christian McCaffrey is questionable.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) October 21, 2023
George Kittle is widely considered one of the five best tight ends in the NFL. Kittle is an elite blocker with exceptional speed and hands. However, Kittle’s numbers are disappointing, with only 18 catches for 216 yards. Kittle’s three touchdowns are only two behind Mark Andrews’ five. However, all three came in the game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Entering Monday Night Football, the 49ers will be without one of their best pass catchers Deebo Samuel, who is out with a hairline fracture. Left tackle Trent Williams will most likely miss the game with an ankle injury.
The Williams injury is a huge loss, especially against a Vikings defense that ranks first in blites per dropback (57.9%). Look for Purdy to get the ball out quickly to players like Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk in space. If the Vikings bring the house in the red zone, Kittle should be targeted immediately, so we’re taking a chance on his touchdown prop.
Kirk Cousins Over 36.5 Pass Attempts (-114)
There is a direct correlation between Kirk Cousins’ pass attempting and the Vikings’ win/loss record in 2023. When Cousins throws for more than 43 passes a game, the Vikings are 0-4. In the Vikings’ two wins, Cousins threw for less than 32 passes each game.
It’s not groundbreaking information to point out that teams throw more if they are losing. However, it’s important to point that out for this prop. When the Vikings are leading in a game, Cousins throws less passes. When the Vikings are trailing, Cousins throws more.
Using that knowledge, the 49ers are a 7-point favorite over the Vikings. If you believe the 49ers will lead most of the game, then it’s all but guaranteed that Cousins will be throwing the ball more, even without Justin Jefferson in the lineup. The 49ers also rank third at defending the run (80.2 rushing yards per game). I’m banking on Cousins throwing more than 40 passes tonight.
