A big one on the NFC North
It’s going to be a big one in the NFC North on Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium as the Minnesota Vikings put their undefeated record on the line against the Detroit Lions.
These two teams sit atop the NFC North as a part of the division’s historic start to the 2024 season. Minnesota comes into this one with a 5-0 record and sporting the biggest point differential in the NFL, while the Lions are coming off of a 47-9 thrashing of Dallas in Week 6. The Vikings are coming off of their bye week, while the Lions took Week 5 off.
There are a pair of different injury stories that could shape this one as well. The Lions lost superstar Aidan Hutchinson in their victory over Dallas, as the Defensive Player of the Year frontrunner suffered a fractured tibia during the game and will miss the remainder of the season. That’s a huge loss for a Detroit defense that was starting to come into its own.
On the Minnesota side, this game could see the return of tight end T.J. Hockenson against his former team. Hockenson suffered a torn ACL and MCL in the Vikings’ loss to Detroit at U.S. Bank Stadium last season and was just activated from the Physically Unable to Perform List ahead of the Vikings’ matchup in London last Sunday. No indication has been made as to whether or not he will be activated for this one, but he’s within his window to return to the roster and will be practicing with the team.
Kickoff for this one is slated for noon Central time on Sunday afternoon in Minneapolis and, for just the second time this season, the broadcast will be handled by FOX affiliates around the country. We’ll have all of our coverage of this one right here for you to easily access.
