Six-year veteran quarterback Daniel Jones signed a new contract with the Indianapolis Colts. Jones, a former first-round pick, spent the 2024 season with the Minnesota Vikings and New York Giants.

After failing to trade up for any of the top three quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft, New York entered the season with Daniel Jones under center. Unfortunately, the quarterback couldn’t recapture his 2022 form, as he continued to struggle early in the season. Starting and appearing in 10 games, the former first-round pick finished his season completing 63.3% of his passes for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions. The Giants cut him midway through the season and the quarterback signed with the Minnesota Vikings practice squad but never made it into a game.
Daniel Jones originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Selected by the New York Giants, the Duke product began his career backing up two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning. However, Jones quickly took over starting duties once Manning struggled. Appearing in 13 games while making 12 starts, the rookie finished his inaugural campaign by completing 61.9% of his passes for 3,027 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.
Unfortunately, Jones’ play began to dip over the next two seasons. Failing to produce a winning record while posting unremarkable stats, New York declined Jones’ fifth-year option while replacing head coach Joe Judge with Brian Daboll. Entering the final year of his rookie contract, Daboll helped Daniel Jones have the best season of his career. Starting and appearing in 16 games, Jones led New York to the playoffs and even defeated the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round.
The Giants rewarded this effort with a massive four-year, $160 million extension and immediately regretted it. Jones regressed to his previous form in 2023, completing 67.5% of his passes for 909 yards while throwing just two touchdowns and six interceptions in six games.
