As the Minnesota Twins prepare their major league roster for the 2025 season, prospects in their organization have gotten noticed. Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com has been publishing his top prospects of 2025. These lists include several notable Twins prospects who will look to make an impact on the major league roster in the near future.
Twins Prospects to Watch in 2025
Second Base
All-Star Expectations
The Twins have had a history of All-Star second basemen. Beginning with Hall of Fame player Rod Carew from 1967-1978 to Chuck Knoblauch in the ’90s, the Twins have high expectations at the position. In recent decades, Brian Dozier and Jorge Polanco have certainly done a serviceable job at second base. While there has been some historical success for the Twins at the position, they are now hopeful to solidify the position once more with an up-and-coming prospect.
Luke Keaschall
Coming in at third on Mayo’s top prospect list for second base is Luke Keaschall. Keaschall was drafted out of Arizona State in the 2nd round of the 2023 June Amateur Draft. His strong offensive performance alone has made Keaschall stand out. In college, he maintained a .327 average and a .300 average over two seasons of minor league baseball. Even though Keaschall doesn’t have elite power, his 56 career home runs in college and minors, and a .482 slugging percentage in two seasons in the minors, demonstrate he is capable of extra-base hits.
Keaschall is also disciplined at the plate. With a career .414 on-base percentage, his good walk rate in the minors of 81 walks in 133 games demonstrates his solid approach at the plate. Once on base, Keaschall has the ability to steal bases, with 34 stolen bases across his college and minor league career. This number is not elite, but it is a factor in his wheelhouse that needs to be considered by opposing teams.
Keaschall’s quick progression should also be noted. After spending his first two collegiate seasons with San Francisco in the West Coast Conference, he transferred to Arizona State of the Pac-12. In 2023 he quickly went through the Rookie League, to Low-A, and then High-A. This was followed up in 2024 when he went from the High-A league to Double-A. This consistent improvement and ability to contribute at the plate clearly make Keashall a respected prospect in the Twins organization.
Outfield
Outfield Legacy
The Twins have a legacy in center field spanning from Kirby Puckett to Byron Buxton. Currently, Buxton is experiencing his healthiest offseason in years, and the Twins need players to complement him in the outfield in the foreseeable future. After losing Max Kepler to free agency, the Twins must fill a need in the corner outfield position soon. Two possible prospects who could take on this role are Walker Jenkins and Emmanuel Rodriguez. Both prospects appear on Mayo’s list of top outfield prospects.
Walker Jenkins
Jenkins has demonstrated consistent contact skills with his bat by posting a .302 average in his first two seasons in the minors. Even though Jenkins is not displaying elite power, his nine home runs and 27 doubles in his first two seasons of minor league baseball have contributed to a .473 slugging percentage. This means he does have the potential to develop power for the middle part of a lineup.
Having 65 walks in 108 games has contributed to Jenkins’ .400 career on-base percentage. Once on the base paths, Jenkins has demonstrated solid speed. His 23 steals make him a threat and contribute to his overall value to the Twins. Going from Low-A in 2023 to Double-A in 2024 shows a quick progression from his ability at the plate and speed as a baserunner. Jenkins is quickly becoming a top-tier prospect for the Twins.
Emmanuel Rodriguez
Due to his combination of power and plate discipline, Emmanuel Rodriguez is a highly touted prospect for the Twins. Rodriguez has 44 home runs in 230 career professional games. This has contributed to a .510 slugging percentage during this time. In 37 games at Double-A in 2024, Rodriguez’s slash line of .298/.479/.621 is especially encouraging for the Twins. This led to a promotion to Triple-A later in 2024. Even though his time was limited in Triple-A, it does show the Twins are challenging Rodriguez, which is a promising sign for his future.
Though he has primarily played center field in his career, Rodriguez has the ability to play all three outfield positions. His career fielding percentage of .967 indicates reliability and dependability in the outfield. While only playing a small number of games in left and right field in 2024, Rodriguez boasted a 1.000 fielding percentage to show his ability to adapt defensively.
A Promising Future
All three prospects bring unique and valuable skills to the Twins organization. Whether it’s impressive consistency at the plate, raw power, or defensive prowess, these players demonstrate the depth and versatility the Twins have within their farm system. Their continued development will be crucial in shaping the future of the Minnesota Twins.
