Not much happening in Twins Territory
The Past Week on Twinkie Town:
- After a very busy week, it was a quiet week in Twins Territory as the Championship Series wrapped up in both leagues. The only notable Twins news was that Carlos Santana and Willi Castro were both named as Gold Glove finalists. Ben Jones has more on the two well-deserved nominations.
- John Foley dives into why Jhoan Duran had a worse-than-expected season, due to his lower arm angle.
- Matt Monitto checks out which jersey numbers are Twins players wearing for the first time in MLB history.
- With all the talk about payroll, Jonathan Gamble looks at which MLB teams got the most for their money in 2024.
- Zach Koenig takes us through his 2024 at the ballpark.
Elsewhere in Twins Territory:
- Theo Tollefson at Zone Coverage lays out why the Twins are a pretty attractive team for potential buyers.
- Dan Hayes at The Athletic reveals his votes for the Twins’ Diamond Award winners ($).
- Do-Hyoung Park at MLB.com looks at which Twins’ prospects stock went up in 2024.
In the World of Baseball:
- The World Series is now set: the Evil Empire versus the Less Evil Empire. Yankees versus Dodgers – just how the script was drawn up back in April. I kid of course – but this is setting up to be a showdown of two of the top payrolls in baseball. In addition, this is the first time that two players with 50+ homers in a season will face off in the Fall Classic.
- Jeff Passan at ESPN takes a look at why the Mets season, despite finishing in a loss in the NLCS, is a sign of good things to come.
- According to Brittany Ghiroli at The Atheltic, Jerry Reinsdorf is now open to selling the White Sox, which is a hilarious outcome of the 2024 season. According to Ghiroli, former major leaguer Dave Stewart is part of an ownership group that is looking to buy the team. However, Stewart has been involved in other groups to try to get an expansion baseball team in Nashville. It remains to be seen whether the sale will go through and whether the White Sox will stay in Chicago.
