No, that number is not how much the Twins are worth
The Past Week on Twinkie Town:
- Free agency is in full swing as the most notable free agent on the market, Juan Soto, signed with the New York Mets for $765 million over 15 years. His deal includes no deferred money but has an opt-out after five years. The Mets can void Soto’s opt-out by adding $40 million spread out over the remaining 10 years of the contract. And no, the Twins were never going to come close to signing Soto.
- Matt Monitto recaps another four games in his Out of the Park league comprised of Twins draftees.

In the World of Baseball:
- Ben Clemens at Fangraphs looks at why baseball teams are choosing to embrace some risks at the plate and on the mound to get higher rewards.
- Dick Allen and Dave Parker were both named to the Baseball Hall of Fame as inductees of the Classic Baseball Era Committee. Allen was a seven-time All-Star who earned NL ROY and AL MVP honors in his career. Parker also was a seven-time All-Star and was the NL MVP in 1978. He was also a two-time World Series champion, once with the Pirates, and once with the Athletics.
- Japanese star pitcher, Roki Sasaki, was posted by the Chiba Lotte Marines on Monday, starting the 45-day clock for teams to sign him. Due to Sasaki’s age and length of service in the Nippo Profession Baseball league, he’s treated as an international amateur and teams can only use money from their international bonus pool money for a signing bonus. For the record, the Twins, among with seven other teams, have the highest pool, at $7,555,500.
- Beyond Juan Soto, the free-agent market has been busy, with a number of notable names already off the board, including Frankie Montas (Mets), Aroldis Chapman (Red Sox), Luis Severino (Athletics), Clay Holmes (Mets), Tyler O’Neill (Orioles), Willy Adames (Giants), and Michael Conforto (Dodgers).
