Bailey Ober struggled while the lineup flailed with runners on the bases.
Other than the 2nd inning, Bailey Ober was pretty good tonight, but that inning pretty much sunk the Twins chances in this game. Jonah Bride got the Marlins on the board with a 1-out solo blast to left, then Kyle Slowers struck out. A hit-by-pitch and two singles brought another run home, then Xavier Edwards doubled to make it a 4-0 game. The rest of Bailey’s start wasn’t perfect, he had to work around some walks and hits, but he kept us within what would normally be called striking distance.
The Twins had plenty of chances to come back in this game. They left two runners on in the 1st, 2nd, 5th, and 8th innings. In the 3rd inning, after Royce Lewis hit an RBI single, Kyle Farmer grounded into an inning ending double play. It was another frustrating day at the plate for the Twins, something that has become quite common over these last few weeks.
In the 9th, the Twins went down 1-2-3, giving us our 4-1 final score. The Twins now find themselves 2 games behind the Royals and Tigers for a wild card spot, with 5 left to play. Time is running out.
