A star is born every day, but superstars can only be created on nights like this. De’Aaron Fox erupted for a franchise-record 60 points to bring his team back from a 20-point deficit against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Fox did all he could in a breathtaking performance, but the Kings came up short in a 130-126 overtime loss in an NBA Cup game Friday before a crowd of 16,478 at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento. “Man, our guys battled,” Kings coach Mike Brown said. “They fought. Plenty of opportunities to give up, especially being shorthanded … but our guys found a way. And my man Foxy — Foxy showed up tonight.”

More on this storyline
Since the start of last season, there have been eight 60-point games. During that span, teams are 3-5 when a player scores 60 or more. Fox, who has made only one All-Star team despite averaging over 21 points in eight seasons, said he still relishes in his performance even in a loss. “Obviously, at the end of the day, that type of performance, that type of accomplishment, is nothing to just breathe over and let go,” Fox said. “It’s definitely cool.” -via ESPN / November 16, 2024
The Kings’ guard had 26 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to finish with a franchise-record 60 points, besting Jack Twyman’s 59 points for the Cincinnati Royals in 1960 and DeMarcus Cousins’ 56-point performance in 2016, which was the most since the franchise moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Sacramento in 1985. Twyman’s had been the longest standing single-game franchise record in the NBA. With Fox breaking the mark, the new longest standing single-game franchise record for points belongs to Bob Pettit in 1961, who co-holds the Hawks record with Dominique Wilkins and Lou Hudson. “I knew I was nice already, so I wouldn’t really say so,” Fox said when asked if he learned anything about himself. -via ESPN / November 16, 2024
First off — great screen name. Secondly, the first colorway of De’Aaron Fox’s debut signature shoe, the Fox 1 from Curry Brand, is dropping soon on December 6th. This is a huge launch for both Fox and Stephen Curry, as it marks the first time that Curry Brand is launching a signature shoe under its Under Armour umbrella category. -via boardroom.tv / November 9, 2024
