The Gophers get much-needed offensive line help
The Minnesota Golden Gophers may have earned their biggest transfer commitment of the offseason on Saturday with Washington offensive lineman Kahlee Tafai grabbing an oar.
On3’s Pete Nakos was the first to report the news.
He chose Minnesota over offers from Alabama, UCLA, Michigan State, North Carolina, Nebraska, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, Kansas, and others.
Tafai has three years of eligibility remaining.
After redshirting as a freshman in 2023, Tafai worked his way into the Huskies’ starting offensive line this season, starting the final four games at left tackle.
With UCF transfer offensive lineman Marcellus Marshall and now Tafai climbing into the boat, the Gophers’ offensive line for next season is taking shape. Minnesota will head into the offseason needing to replace three starters on the offensive line. Phillip Daniels was expected to slot into the starting right tackle spot but opted instead to enter the portal and return home to Ohio State.
