The Minnesota Vikings appear to have found their replacement for Kirk Cousins for the time being with Joshua Dobbs thriving in his first game with the team. So the team is making some room on the roster by releasing one of their other quarterbacks.
On Friday, the Vikings released Tanner Morgan from their practice squad. The former UDFA out of Minnesota joined the team in early-October after being waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers at the end of the preseason.
Morgan was an All-Big Ten quarterback for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in 2019 and led the team to their first Big Ten division title in over 50 years that season. He left the program after the 2022 season as the team’s all-time single season passer and No. 2 on their all-time leading passer ranking.
But Morgan’s college excellence didn’t lead to him being on anyone’s radar heading into the 2023 NFL Draft and he wound up going undrafted.

The release of Tanner Morgan leaves Joshua Dobbs and rookie Jaren Hall as the Vikings’ only active quarterbacks with Kirk Cousins and Nick Mullens both on injured reserve.
Will the Minnesota Vikings add any more quarterbacks to their ranks in the coming days?
