How do you watch the Gophers and Trojans and 3 keys to a Minnesota win
USC comes to town for the first time since the Tim Brewster’s final season. With a lifetime record of 1-6-1 against the Trojans, can the Gophers start to close that gap with a win on Saturday night?
How to Watch
TV: BTN
Time: 6:30
Stream: FoxSports.com
3 KEYS
- Run the ball with authority – Michigan ran the ball effectively against the Trojans, Wisconsin did not. I know that people loved the up-tempo portion of last week’s game, but this is still a rushing team and establishing that early would go a long way towards winning this game.
- Slow Miller Moss – And the rest of the passing game. The Trojans lead the Big Ten at 316 passing yards per game. Miller Moss is a good quarterback and they have two good receivers in Ja’Kobi Lane and Zachariah Branch. This will be a good test for the Gopher secondary.
- Plus turnovers – We cannot lose the turnover battle. The ball is the program.
OPPOSING PLAYERS TO WATCH
- #7 QB – Miller Moss – A likely first or second-round draft pick who is the unquestioned leader of this offense.
- #18 LB – Eric Gentry – A big, rangy linebacker who leads the Trojans in tackles and has 2 sacks. Also note that Gentry is questionable for Saturday’s game.
PREDICTION
As I have mentioned a few times, this passing attack is concerning. If the Gophers can run the ball, to keep them off the field. And if they can win the turnover battle, they can hang in this game.
They have faced Michigan and Wisconsin in the previous two weeks and perhaps we catch them looking past Minnesota to their Penn State game next week. Welcome to the grind of the Big Ten schedule.
The Gophers have not given us any reason to believe, but this game feels like the perfect opportunity to steal a win.
