The Gophers add depth at the cornerback position
TCU cornerback Jai’Onte’ McMillan announced Sunday after his official visit that he will be transferring to Minnesota. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Thank You to all the coaches that reached out and given me an opportunity. I am committed to The University of Minnesota. Go Gophers! #RTB @CoachNJ_Monroe @Coach_Fleck pic.twitter.com/ytStVH5PSc

McMillan was a reserve cornerback and a special teams contributor for the Horned Frogs. He appeared in 14 games as a redshirt sophomore in 2022, recording a team-high six special teams tackles. McMillan saw action in all 12 games for TCU this season, registering four total tackles, one pass break-up, and one sack. This is likely a depth pick-up for the Gophers, as Justin Walley and Bucknell transfer Ethan Robinson are penciled in as starters at cornerback for next season. McMillan could also compete with Jack Henderson and Craig McDonald at slot corner.
