The Gophers add experience at the tight end position
Head coach P.J. Fleck and co. were looking to add depth at the tight end position this offseason, hoping to afford their underclassmen tight ends another year to develop before they start seeing meaningful snaps. They’ve found their man in the form of Purdue transfer Drew Biber, who committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Thursday.
He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Biber saw action in all 12 games this season with the Boilermakers and recorded 13 receptions for 113 receiving yards. He appeared in 37 games in four years in West Lafayette.
The Gophers relied on a trio of tight ends this season — Nick Kallerup, Jameson Geers, and Frank Bierman — and with Kallerup graduating, expect Biber to step into his role.
