The Gophers pull a much-needed cornerback out of the portal
The Minnesota Golden Gophers will need to replace both starting cornerbacks next season as Justin Walley and Ethan Robinson are both out of eligibility, so head coach P.J. Fleck and co. have dug into the portal and pulled out NC Central cornerback Jaylen Bowden.
Bowden committed to the Gophers on Sunday over offers from Wake Forest, James Madison, Old Dominion, Miami (Ohio), and Florida Atlantic. He has two years of eligibility remaining.
First, I thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. Huge thanks to my family, my coaches at Mallard Creek and NCCU, and Coach Fleck, Coach Monroe, and Coach Hetherman for believing in me. With that being said, I’m 100% committed to the University of Minnesota!#RTB #SkiUMah pic.twitter.com/XLNSydKOy5

Bowden started 10 games this season as a true sophomore and finished with seven pass break-ups and one interception. He did not allow a passing touchdown.
