We believe a mayo bath is in P.J. Fleck’s near future
The Minnesota Golden Gophers (7-5) will close out the season against the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-6) in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Friday, Jan. 3 at 6:30 pm. CST.
The game will air on ESPN.
This Week’s Thoughts:
GopherNation: I would have picked Minnesota during the regular season and Virginia Tech seems to have lost so much more since the end of the season. Minnesota wins this handily.
gopherguy05: Max Brosmer goes out slinging, Darius Taylor has a great game, and P.J. Fleck gets covered in mayo.
Blake: See my opponent preview.
GoAUpher: If P.J. isn’t covered in mayo at the end of this game, I will seriously consider canceling my season tickets out of spite. You have one job to do Gophers, and that’s use this meaningless exhibition to cover your coach in a condiment.
zipsofakron: My favorite streak in sports (Minnesota’s bowl streak) continues and I will appreciate a new Power 4 pelt to add to our collection.
Ustreet: Max Brosmer throws for 700 yards. There are at least three fat guy touchdowns.
mowe0018: I have given P.J. much guff in this space. But one thing he and the RTB culture have mastered is the meaningless exhibition, and I say that as a compliment (and not backhanded at all). I enjoy always winning the last game of the season.
WhiteSpeedReceiver: I’ve heard rumors that one of P.J. Fleck’s more relatable foibles is that he doesn’t like mayo. The only way I’m worried about this game is if he throws it to avoid the egg jizz bath.
wildcat00: If you can say one thing about P.J. Fleck, it’s that he has the sense of meaningless occasion that a bowl game requires.
