Minnesota Golden Gophers redshirt freshman safety Kerry Brown was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week after recording two interceptions and four tackles in a 27-0 win over Nevada.

He was part of a ball-hawking Gopher secondary on Saturday that limited the Wolf Pack to 114 passing yards and intercepted quarterback Brendon Lewis three times.

Brown is the first Minnesota defensive player to be named Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Justin Walley was recognized in 2021.
