It wasn’t pretty, but it was their third consecutive win
Lu’Cye Patterson came to life offensively as he and Dawson Garcia combined for 41 points to lead the Gophers to a 68-65 win over Central Michigan. Garcia recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds and finally got some offensive help from Patterson who scored 19, 14 in the second half.
The win is the third in a row for Minnesota as they are working out the kinks against a soft non-conference schedule.
TURNING POINT: Patterson and Garcai each hit big threes in the final minutes but it was from the free throw lineGarcia made one of two free throws with 15.3 seconds remaining to put Minnesota up 3 and the defense held on to secure the win.
HOT: Central Michigan’s Ugnius Jarusevicius, has shot 5/31 from three over last season and this. Tonight the 6’10” center was 3/3 and fired up about it. The Lithuanian got in Frank Mitchell’s face, earning himself a technical.
NOT: Anthony Pritchard is the MAC Preseason Player of the Year, but he was 3/10 from the field and scored just 7 points for his team.
UP NEXT: A trip to Florida. The Gophers head to the ESPN Events Invitational to face Wichita State on Thanksgiving.
