The Gophers will be in a session with the three other top teams in the conference
The Regular season is now complete, and all that is left is for the Minnesota Golden Gophers Gymnastics team to try and bring back some hardware to Dinkytown. The #15 ranked Minnesota Gophers will compete in Session III of the Big Ten Championships Saturday Afternoon in Ann Arbor with the other three top teams in the conference in #5 UCLA, #9 Michigan State and #17 Michigan.
Minnesota finished the regular season with a 14-1 record and a 9-1 record against Big Ten opponents. They tied for second place in the conference with the Spartans—who defeated Minnesota in February, behind the Big Ten Champion Bruins. Now Saturday they will face both those squads and the host Wolverines in a four-way battle for the top of the conference.
The Gophers will begin their event on floor before moving to vault, bars and finishing on beam. Heading into the Big Ten Championships the Gophers rank 11th nationally on vault, 17th on bars, 16th on beam and 12th on floor. Their vault high score is 49.400, bars is 49.425, beam 49.375 and floor 49.550.
Minnesota will have several individuals who will try and take home event titles on Saturday as well. Mya Hooten ranks No. 21 on vault and 11th on floor nationally this season. Jordyn Lyden ranks 27th nationally on the uneven bars. Ava Stewart ranks 25th on vault.
Hooten, who was named an AAI Nominee for the second consecutive year, earned her fourth First Team All-Big Ten honor and fifth overall. Lyden, Sarah Moraw and Stewart were all named to the second team, while Stewart made the All-Freshman Team too. It was all their first All-B1G honor.
The Big Ten Championships will take place at 4 PM on Saturday and will air live on Big Ten Network. On Monday the 2025 NCAA Selection Show will take place at 11 a.m. CT. The Gophers are a lock to make the field and will find out what NCAA Regional they will be heading to.
