The Gophers get their transfer quarterback
Earlier this month, head coach P.J. Fleck said he and offensive coordinator Greg Harbaugh Jr. would look to bring in a quarterback from the transfer portal this offseason. Well, that quarterback appears to be Georgia Tech transfer Zach Pyron, who committed to the Minnesota Golden Gophers while on campus for a visit on Wednesday.
He has two years of eligibility remaining.

Pyron was a four-star prospect coming out of high school who signed with the Yellow Jackets over offers from Baylor, Arkansas, Houston, Kansas State, and Vanderbilt.
In three seasons with Georgia Tech, he saw action in 19 games. Pyron threw 995 passing yards, completed 56.8% (88-of-155) of his passes, and tallied 5 passing touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He also carried the ball 79 times for 271 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
Pyron immediately becomes the most experienced member of the Gophers’ quarterback room, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be the starter in the season opener against Buffalo next fall. He’ll need to win a competition with highly-touted redshirt freshman Drake Lindsey, former Virginia Tech transfer Dylan Wittke, and incoming true freshman Jackson Kollock.
