The Gophers reach into the Sunshine State for a defensive lineman
Florida International defensive tackle Jordan Guerad announced Sunday after his official visit that he will be transferring to Minnesota. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Guerad chose the Gophers over offers from Kansas State, Louisville, South Carolina, and Mississippi State.

Guerad recorded 38 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, two quarterback hurries, and one forced fumble this season. The Gophers utilized a three-man rotation at defensive tackle this year and one-third of that rotation — starter Kyler Baugh — is graduating. Expect Guerad to come in and compete for time in next season’s rotation with Deven Eastern and Logan Richter.
