Season Record: 84-65
Season Winnings: ~$190
We are back into the final stretch of the season. Unfortunately Clay had a good last week such that we did not quite hit the +$200 mark on the season, but we are narrowing in on it.
One of the unfortunate aspects of doing this column (besides of course great commenter hate!) is that I have to go to Outkick. Lord knows I’m not going to Xitter and BAH GAWD THAT’S THE BLOG MANAGEMENT’S MUSIC
Oh hi there, didn’t see you. This is GopherNation, IowaGopher, and gopherguy05. We’re just enjoying some nice stouts and winter cocktails as the season finally changes. We’d love to have you come hang with us, and our new social media hang is BlueSky at https://bsky.app/profile/thedailygopher.bsky.social.

Ah yes, I have to read Clay’s columns, and find myself through gritted teeth saying repeatedly “It’s ok for people to like things that I do not like.” This week included a column that I thought was going to be the gambling picks one but was instead about the end of “woke sports” which
My fault really for this whole exercise. It may be worth pondering the cross pressures of outrage writing over imagined enemies and a man claiming to be good at picking gambling winners who has a sub 50% record.
The picks
SMU at Virginia. We have SMU -10
In the gambling column the following sentence about the SMU-Virginia game on Saturday, “But for one weekend, the Cavaliers rise up, like Jeb Stuart on a late night raid long ago, and get us the cover with late-game heroics.” It’s worth mentioning two things here. First, you actually never have to hand it to the Confederacy. Second, Stuart’s raid at Chambersburg managed to mostly capture draft horses and relatively little else of strategic value. The more you know.
Ole Miss at Florida. We have Ole Miss -10.5
Indiana at Ohio State. We have OSU by 13.5
Kentucky at Texas. We have Texas -20.5
Penn State at Minnesota. We do not bet against our own team which puts us in conflict with the purpose of this exercise. Thus, we only bet the over 44.5
BYU at ASU. We have BYU
Colorado at Kansas. We have Colorado -3.5
Missouri at Miss State. We have Missouri -7.5 and the under 57.5
Army at ND. We have ND -14.5
Texas A&M at Auburn. We have A&M -2.5 and the over 46.5
