Could the Gophers make a return trip to the Big Apple?
The Minnesota Golden Gophers will have to wait until Sunday to find out their bowl destination, so for now fans will have to settle for bowl projections.
Here are the latest:
ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura: Pinstripe Bowl (Dec. 28; New York City, NY) vs. Georgia Tech
ESPN’s Mark Schlabach: Pinstripe Bowl (Dec. 28; New York City, NY) vs. Georgia Tech
CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm: Duke’s Mayo Bowl (Jan. 3; Charlotte, NC) vs. Duke
247 Sports: Duke’s Mayo Bowl (Jan. 3; Charlotte, NC) vs. Syracuse
Athlon Sports: Pinstripe Bowl (Dec. 28; New York City, NY) vs. Georgia Tech
While three of our prognosticators seem to think the Bronx is a likely destination for Minnesota, the Gophers played in the Pinstripe Bowl as recently as two years ago. There is also special language in the Pinstripe Bowl selection criteria for the Big Ten, with a stated priority to get as many different teams into that bowl as possible. Neither Michigan no Nebraska have played in the Pinstripe Bowl, and both are bowl-eligible and sitting in the right spot of the conference pecking order.
