Who is in, who is out and all the transfer portal information you need
It is officially portal season. Day One of the portal set records (again) for how many student-athletes submitted their names to transfer. This will be updated as information changes.
WHO STAYS
We shall start with who is staying. The list of Gophers who have the opportunity to stay is short, but there are some names worth hanging on to for Niko Medved’s first season.
- Isaac Asuma – the Cherry point guard has announced that he is coming back. This was priority #1 from the current roster and Asuma was quick to say yes to Medved. He will come back for his sophomore season and should be one of the better point guards in the conference.

- Grayson Grove – Grove is a 6’9” forward from Alexandria and he is also coming back after redshirting this past season.
The only other names who may end up on this list are a little fuzzy. Does Brennan Rigsby have another year to play? Will Dawson Garcia miraculously get a 6th season of eligibility?
WHO GOES
- Frank Mitchell – the Tank is heading to the A10 and he will play for St. Bonaventure.
- Kadyn Betts – announced that he is entering the portal, does not have a destination yet.
- Tyler Cochran – announced that he is entering the portal, does not have a destination yet.
WHO COMES
There are no names to add to this grouping yet. Medved and his staff will be scouring the portal and names will begin popping up on this list soon.
- TBD
WHO MIGHT COME
This is the fun part. Time for all of the speculation rumors to swirl.
- Treysen Eaglestaff – a junior guard from North Dakota is apparently has interest in Minnesota. Eaglestaff is 6’6” and just finished his junior season for the Fighting Hawks where he averaged 18.9 points per game and shot over 37% from three. He dropped 51 points in an upset win over South Dakota State in the Summitt League quarterfinal game. But then was held to 6 points in their loss to St. Thomas.
- Kyan Evans – Colorado State’s guard who just had a career best game in their first round upset win over Memphis. For the season Evans averaged 10.6 points and 3.1 assists per game and shot 44.6% from three! There is no indication that Evans is coming with Medved to Minnesota, but there is an obvious connection.
- Terrance Brown – a Minneapolis native who just finished his sophomore season at Fairleigh Dickinson. As a 6’3” guard, Brown averaged 20.6 points per game while also averaging 5.6 rebounds.
CURRENT SCHOLARSHIP ROSTER
Here is who we KNOW will be suiting up in maroon and gold next season.
- G – Isaac Asuma – Sophomore
- F – Grayson Grove – redshirt Freshman
