On today’s episode, Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun break down the Wolves’ win over the OKC Thunder and the nearly unwatchable All-Star Game
On today’s episode, Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun discuss the last two games before the All-Star Break for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as well as the changes to the NBA All-Star Game format.
— Before the break, the Timberwolves took down the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder. Without four of their usual veterans, including Mike Conley and Rudy Gobert, the game was a possible look into what a future version of the Wolves could look like.
— The game before, the Wolves lost to the Milwaukee Bucks without Giannis Antetkounpo and Damian Lillard. The awful loss was caused by a combination of factors, including a lack of energy, poor offensive possessions late in the game, and a rough shooting night overall.
— Terrence Shannon Jr. stood out among the young players who played well against OKC. It was incredibly enjoyable to watch him push the ball in transition and be unafraid to attack the league’s top defense.
— Shannon got his jersey retired by the University of Illinois on Saturday, but there was a mistake made as when the jersey was unfurled, it came out upside down.
— Anthony Edwards had a monster dunk over hometown player Chet Holmgren. Addidas was ready for the moment, posting a promotional video without minutes of the dunk.
— Between Jaden McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Jaylen Clark, the Wolves did a great job defensively against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, holding the league-leading scorer to 24 points on 6-21 shooting.
— The All-Star game happened on Sunday night, debuting a new format. While the new format may have needed some work, the worst part may have been the broadcast, which felt like it was almost all advertisements and very little actual basketball.
