Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun celebrate the Timberwolves clinching a playoff spot and break down the matchup with the Lakers.
On today’s episode, Ryan Eichten and Leo Sun recap the Minnesota Timberwolves season up until this point and give their thoughts on the upcoming playoff matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.
— It is the fourth consecutive season, the Timberwolves clinched a spot in the NBA Playoffs. While the Wolves came up short of their win projection, making the playoffs and avoiding the Play-In should be considered an accomplishment in the crowded Western Conference.
— The Wolves ended the season with the sixth seed, setting up a matchup with Luka Dončić, LeBron James, and the Lakers. The Wolves appear to be underdogs, but the playoff series should be viewed closer to a toss-up.
— Anthony Edwards made seven 3-pointers against the Utah Jazz on Sunday, passing former teammate Malik Beasley for the league lead on the final day of the season.
— Rudy Gobert had another dominant game, adding to his list of overpowering performances down the stretch of the season. The Wolves will need Gobert to continue playing as well as he has to beat an undersized Laker team.
— After their own game, Wolves players lingered around the locker room to watch the end of the game between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers, which determined their playoff opponent.
— When Draymond Green missed a layup in overtime that would have tied the game, one played yelled out, “Booty cheeks Draymond.”
— The Wolves roster was split between who they wanted to face in the playoffs. Some wanted the rematch with Denver, others wanted some new competition including one player who said, “I’m tired of eating chicken nuggets.” Most players did not have a preference of opponent and were confident in whatever matchup comes their way.
