KAT is doing a good job of not letting the Jokic back downs send him — he’s absorbing the hit. When the defender gets hit and recoils a hit, that’s when Jokic settles in and reads the floor.

Jokic is playing too far out, and is missing more challenged shots. Murray’s arm may fall off so that’s a problem. Denver got DEMOLISHED on the boards, which is a problem since they’re shooting 27% from the field. Couple things to fix for the rest of the game. – 9:12 PM

Given KAT enough criticism for his needless foul trouble this playoffs, that was a masterful 1Q of defense. Not declaring this bc Jokic missed more than he made, but KAT made him catch the ball way outside the paint than what he’s used. Physical without fouling, disrupted flow. – 9:12 PM

More on this storyline
Dane Moore: Anthony Edwards on the job Karl-Anthony Towns did guarding Nikola Jokic: “I think the main thing today was his ass stayed out of foul trouble, like I told him in Phoenix. That was all that was. Yeah, I mean I cussed him out. I cuss him out every chance I get. Bro, stop fucking fouling. I think you guys see it, if KAT don’t foul we pretty much can win the game every time. Tonight he had three fouls, but he only had three, he didn’t have five. I told him today, ‘We thankful that you didn’t foul because if you foul we lose, because you the best matchup we’ve got for Jokic, like you do the best job on him. I mean we’re coming to double but you do the best job standing up to his first dribble.’ He did that tonight.” -via Twitter @DaneMooreNBA / May 17, 2024
ClutchPoints: “You gotta switch it up, bro… You can’t just give [Nikola Jokic] the same dose… Be a presence in there motherf*cker… You 7’5. Play like it.” Kevin Garnett had a message for Rudy Gobert 🗣 (via @allthesmokeprod) pic.twitter.com/SEAZmRRnU4 -via Twitter @ClutchPointsApp / May 16, 2024
Best game? Yes, there is a strong argument for this. Even by Jokić’s exalted standards, Tuesday was an absurdly good performance. His Game Score of 43.3 was the highest of any of his 78 career playoff games. And this isn’t just any player’s 78 games, but 78 games from the guy with the highest career playoff PER of all time. That Game Score was also Jokić’s second-highest of his season — only a January scrimmage against the lowly Washington Wizards topped it — and the seventh highest of his nine-year career. -via New York Times / May 16, 2024
