Cavalry is on the way for the Minnesota Timberwolves, as health updates to five different starters were announced Thursday afternoon.
As the Minnesota Timberwolves gear up for their first game back after the NBA All-Star game, their official public relations team released an update regarding the injury status of two of their starters.
DiVincenzo, who suffered a left great toe injury on Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the end of the Timberwolves vs. Golden State Warriors game, has been cleared for non-contact basketball activities.
Randle, who suffered a right groin strain on Thursday, Jan. 30 at the 10:12 minute mark of the second quarter during the Timberwolves at Utah Jazz game, has been cleared for full-contact, 5-on-5 basketball practice activities.

Meanwhile, three other starters were still listed as questionable on the official injury report ahead of Friday’s game against the Houston Rockets . Anthony Edwards missed the All-Star game on Sunday due to reports of “groin soreness” and “illness.” Mike Conley missed the last four games due to finger injuries. Rudy Gobert missed the Oklahoma City Thunder game due to back spasms. However, StarTribune’s Chris Hine scooped up a positive update during practice from Head Coach Chris Finch.
I asked Finch about Conley, Edwards and Gobert, who are each listed as questionable, and he said they were all able to go today “largely to full capacity.”

This is great news for Wolves fans to hear, as Minnesota had been running short on healthy bodies before the break. The rookies and peripheral players have made admirable contributions during the last month, but it would be disingenuous to say the team was operating at their highest ceiling. Relying on production in meaningful minutes from a trio of rookies in Rob Dillingham, Jaylen Clark, and Terrence Shannon Jr., 37-year-old Joe Ingles, and even end of bench big Luka Garza, was not a recipe for consistent victories.
It has been widely noted that Minnesota has the easiest strength of schedules remaining in the league. That said, they’ll begin with four straight teams ahead of them in the Western Conference standings. It sounds like Edwards, Conley, and Gobert will be back by Friday, while Randle could be back sooner after. Their return couldn’t come soon enough.
The Wolves are currently seventh in the West. They sit just 3.5 games out of the fourth seed, but 4.0 games out of the 11th seed.
